Understanding Dry Eye Disease
Dry eye is more than an irritation. It’s a pervasive disease that affects both men and women at all stages of life. Symptoms may vary, but if you are experiencing or have experienced dry, itching, or burning eyes, light sensitivity, blurry vision, watery eyes, or experience difficulty wearing contact lenses, you may be suffering from dry eye disease.
Dry eye disease is caused by one of two factors - Aqueous deficiency or Lipid deficiency. Tears are multi-layered, with each layer being responsible for an aspect of eye function and maintenance. A deficient layer causes an imbalance within the eyes' routine function. Once the deficient layer is identified, treatment is targeted to the specific layer at the root of the problem. Our dry eye disease clinic then provides the support necessary to manage dry eye disease without sacrifice.

The iLUX® MGD Treatment System is an advanced technology used to treat patients with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, or MGD, which is a type of dry eye.
Tear Duct Plugs are a more extreme solution that forces tears to stay on the eye and provide lubrication rather than running away through the duct.
